Pylon Signs in Paris!

Pylon SignHere’s a great success story where 100 pylon signs, also referred to as post signs, were recently installed in the UAE for Paris Gallery.  Paris Gallery is a high-end luxury retailer in the Middle East with a premium assortment of over 450 international brands.  They were looking for elegant, illuminated pylon signs to complement the interior design of their stores.

The pylon sign copy changes frequently due to the seasonal and promotional nature of the product line.  Because each pylon sign supports clear covers, the ability to change out the copy is fast and easy.  The client was very pleased with these pylon signs and the flexibility they offered.

This particular pylon sign as shown in the picture is illuminated and double-sided, however pylon signs come in non-illuminated and triangular variations as well.  Some use the terms pylon sign and post sign synonymously because both formats are quite similar.  The main difference between a pylon sign and a post sign is the viewable portion of the post relative to the frame.  Pylon signs tend to encapsulate the post in its entirety or perhaps revealing a small portion of the pole while post signs tend to reveal various degrees of the post itself.

Semantics aside, both pylon signs and post signs accept a wide variety of substrates including paper, plastic, metal, laminates, sublimation and others.  They can be used indoors and outdoors for promotional, informational and wayfinding needs.  As highlighted in this example can acclimate well to very sophisticated environments.

Common Poster Frame Sizes

Poster FrameWhat are the most common poster frame sizes?  As a result of our previous blog on poster frames, we’ve put together a poster frame category containing the most popular sizes we come across.  We’ve already mentioned the 24 x 36 poster frames but there’s also the 18 x 24, 11 x 17 and 27 x 40 poster frame to round out the list.

The 27 x 40 poster frame is popular because of movie posters which happen to be around this approximate size.  The WFFP230U is the standard 27 x 40 poster frame and the WFFP230SPU is it’s floating counterpart.  Both poster frames come with acrylic lenses to protect the poster while the latter gives a bit more dimension as if the poster frame is floating off the wall.

The 27 x 40 poster frame has many uses including promotional and informational messaging.  If you need a smaller poster frame, the 11 x 17 and 18 x 24 poster frames appear to be the most popular for the majority of our customer’s applications.

24 X 36 Poster Frames

Looking f24 X 36 poster frameor 24 x 36 poster frames to mount your interior office signs?  24×36 poster frames are great for wayfinding too.  One of our healthcare clients recently mounted four of these 24 x 36 poster frames on their main lobby wall which their media department would change out on a monthly basis.  The interior office signs they used were printed on card stock and contained either new healthcare programs or employee-related information.

They also added several more throughout the halls for wayfinding purposes. 24×36 poster frames worked great for wayfinding for this client for two particular reasons; 1) they were quite large and they needed the visibility and 2) they were growing rapidly and needed to control the employee traffic.  As a side note, they used smaller versions of these frames for recognition on their employee “Wall of Fame”.

The 24 x 36 poster frames come in several orientations.  The WFP148U is a curved frame while the WFFP256U as seen in the catalog is a flat, portrait-oriented frame.  You can also get a 24×36 poster frame in a flat, landscape-oriented style although not listed in the catalog.  They come in brushed aluminum, black and gold finishes and can be installed rather easily.  We recommend using wall anchors and screws when installing interior office signs over 8.5 x 11, so clearly these 24 x 36 poster frames fall into that category.

Whether used for wayfinding in an office, campus, train station, hospital, doctor’s office or numerous other venues, these 24×36 poster signs are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.  They also come with a lifetime warranty.

Way-Finding Signs and Letter Size Paper

Way-Finding SignsModular way-finding signs give you the ability to take control of your sign program and maintain consistency across your office or campus environment.  This post is specifically about hallway signs, also referred to as corridor signs or flag signs, where you can print your own inserts.

With respect to taking control of your sign program, paper insert signs are something you can do cost effectively and quickly without having to call a local sign company.  These corridor signs or hallway signs, whichever you prefer, can be printed in spot color or full color from your desktop printer.  Two examples of these way-finding signs are FSF11U and FSF12U where you can take your printer output and trim a few inches off the top and you now have high quality paper insert signs.  You then put the paper insert signs into the frame and add the clear cover.

One thing about hallway signs is that they are not very volatile with respect to content.  If you use hallway signs to denote a department section of the building it will not likely change.  If however you use them as way-finding signs you may experience more volatility especially on college or university campuses.

Corridor signs can support other materials in addition to paper insert signs.  They can take vinyl, PVC and a number of other substrates.  Whether you mount these corridor signs on the wall or ceiling they are one of the most versatile type of way-finding signs.
